STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — Joe Stanoszek, the owner of Skin Deep Laser Spa in Strongsville, said people walk through his doors for a variety of services.

“We offer laser hair removal, we also offer tattoo removal, we do skin rejuvenation,” he said.

But starting Wednesday, they’ll also offer something more than just skin deep, without ever even having to walk in his spa because Skin Deep will become a spot for drive-thru COVID-19 testing.

“The more tests that are out there the quicker this thing will go away, the less people are going to spread it because they’re going to know they have it and they’ll go home and take care of themselves quicker,” said Paul Smaldone.

Smaldone is the owner ofCovid Testing Ohio.

He opened a pop-up COVID-19 testing location in Highland Heights, where people can pay to get antibody, PCR, and a newer antigen test, where you can get results within 10 minutes.

“When I realized that no one in Cleveland was performing this test I realized this was an opportunity to provide this access to the community,” he said. “I was shocked at the response from the customers pulling up saying they’ve had a very difficult time finding a place where they can drive up and get the tested immediately, not have to wait three days. They have to quarantine in those three days and what if they’re negative? They’ve lost time at work, they’ve lost time with their families.”

Along with the flagship location in Highland Heights, Smaldone and his team of nurses and EMS workers will also be performing the test out of Skin Deep Laser in Strongsville and Skin Deep Mega Tanning in Rocky River.

“You’ll pull up the parking lot designated to our site, you’ll text us when you arrive, we will come out you’ll stay in your car, and we’ll collect information and we will perform the swab,” said Smaldone.

The independent lab is registered with the state and the results go to both the county and state health departments.

In addition to being a part of the solution of providing more COVID-19 tests, Stanoszek said it’s also a good way to market his business to an entirely new demographic.

“This is really offering you an opportunity to come in when you need to be tested and know the result immediately,” he said.
