Akron police have issued a murder warrant for a man who they say brutally killed his mother on Thursday night.
Officers were called Thursday at 9 p.m. to the 1100 block of Hartford Avenue after a was woman found dead by her daughter, according to a police news release. Police say the woman was found on the kitchen floor with fatal blunt force trauma injuries to her head.
The 78-year-old woman was found about 9 p.m. and the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death a homicide.
Detectives issued the warrant for Derrick Williams, the woman's 47-year-old son, on Friday, charging the man for the murder of his mother.
Police are looking for the woman's son, Derrick Williams, as a person of interest. He was last seen driving a black 2014 Hyundai Accent, bearing Ohio license plate number GOW-3738. Police say he stands about 6 feet tall and weights around 290 pounds.
