61-year-old struck, dragged by car in Cleveland

Police are searching for a suspect driver who allegedly struck a 61-year-old woman and dragged her before fleeing, authorities said.

According to police, the incident happened Tuesday, Jan. 5 at around 7 a.m. in the area of West 150th Street and Puritas Avenue.

Police said the woman was using the crosswalk at Puritas Avenue to cross West 150th Street when she was struck.

The suspect was westbound on Puritas Avenue and turned right in the northbound direction to West 150th Street, dragging the woman for about 60 feet.

The driver then fled in the northbound direction on West 150th Street.

The suspect car was described by a witness as a white, cargo style van – possibly a Ford – driven by a white man who was somewhere between 45-50 years old.

Police said no arrests had been made as of Saturday afternoon.

According to a MetroHealth Medical Center spokesperson, the victim is in good condition at the hospital.
