Former Avon fire chief charged with public indecency to appear in court

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — Avon’s former fire chief, Frank Root Jr., who was indicted last year for pandering obscenity involving a minor, and now facing a public indecency charge, is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

His personal bond was continued and his pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 5 in Avon Lake Municipal Court.

Last year, Root Jr. turned himself in to police after being formally indicted on a charge of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor or impaired person and pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, according to court records.
