Dance instructors at Cleveland Inner City Ballet have been guiding youth since 1998. Chanda Ford- White said she put the program together to give children a chance to be exposed to something different.
"Ballet teaches students confidence and it teaches children confidence and it teaches them to come out of their shell a little bit more,” said Ford-White.
Students begin at 18-months-old and continue through 18 years. Instructors from community universities do the shaping.
"Over 50 percent of our classes are on full scholarship,” said Ford- White. "We're charging $60 per month here. It’s a passion of mine."
Coaches are getting the kids ready for a performance of The Nutcracker on December 9.
