The man who was charged in the hit-skip that killed a Mentor police officer in June will appear in court again on Tuesday.

Brian Anthony, 24, is accused of hitting and killing officer Mathew Mazany during a traffic stop on State Route 2. His bond was set at $1 million in Mentor Municipal Court earlier this month. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence.

Anthony's attorney is hoping to get his bond lowered when he appears in court on Tuesday, according to the Lake County Court of Common Pleas.

If Anthony was to post bond, the conditions are as follows:

  • GPS tracker
  • No driving/consuming alcohol or drugs
  • He is under house arrest
  • Travel restrictions
  • No contact with the victim's family
