A suspect is in custody following an investigation into an "active shooting" scene in Norton, according to law enforcement officials.

Norton police were called to Barber Road Storage after a 911 caller reported seeing a man standing under a covered unit with an assault rifle just before 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say shots were fired around 7:30 p.m. The suspect fired at officers and officers returned fire.
Barberton High School and its sports fields were evacuated where football practice and a wrestling event were taking place. Barber Road was shut down at I-76 to Morgan Avenue.
People in the area were told to lock their doors and stay inside.
The suspect, identified as David Michael Havrilek, 41, of Akron, was taken into custody at Barber Road Storage.
He was taken to Akron General Hospital with at least one gunshot wound, according to officials at the scene.

No officers were injured.
Law enforcement officials say Havrilek has an extensive criminal background.
State troopers brought in a heat-seeking chopper to be sure there were no accomplices hiding in the area.
