Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers got the last laugh earlier this week when they arrested a New York man for allegedly trafficking nitrous oxide, more commonly called hippie crack or laughing gas.

Evangelos R. Scullion, 41, of Dansville, New York, was charged with trafficking in harmful intoxicants, a fourth-degree felony.

Scullion was driving a rented 2017 Ford Expedition on April 3. Just after 3 p.m., troopers pulled his vehicle over for a lane violation on the turnpike in Summit County.

When troopers searched the Ford they found around 939 pounds of nitrous oxide. The tanks had a street value of around $177, 471. They also found a small bag of marijuana, troopers said.

Scullion could face up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine if found guilty.
