WATCH: Doctors from Cleveland Clinic and UH hold joint briefing to discuss COVID-19 surge

CLEVELAND — Doctors from the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals held a joint news conference on Tuesday to discuss the current COVID-19 surge in Northeast Ohio.

Clinic and UH officials discuss COVID-19 surge

The following doctors discussed patient capacity levels at hospitals, the omicron variant, vaccines, unvaccinated patients and testing and therapeutics:

  • Dr. Daniel Simon, President, Academic & External Affairs and Chief Scientific Officer, University Hospitals
  • Dr. Raed Dweik, Chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s Respiratory Institute
  • Dr. Claudia Hoyen, Pediatric Infection Control, UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and Co-Director, Infection Control, University Hospitals
  • Terri Murray, RN, MSN, Nursing Director for Cleveland Clinic’s Respiratory Institute
  • Stephanie Harper, RN, Clinical Nurse in OB/GYN, UH MacDonald Hospital for Women

A nurse will also share personal experiences caring for COVID-19-positive patients, and another nurse will share why she chose to get vaccinated after initially being hesitant.
