COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 2,306 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 949,695.
Key Metrics
The number of new cases today is lower than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 2,910. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 817,493 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 86% of total cases.
There were 221 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. There were 54 new cases reported in Cleveland and two new COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total number of cases in the city to 24,758 and fatalities to 255.
There have now been 16,693 coronavirus-related deaths across the state; 82 new deaths were reported today, lower than the 21-day average of 268.
As of today, 880,613 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.
The median age of patients is 42 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 111 years old.
Hospitalizations
The ODH reported 152 new hospitalizations today, with 12 ICU admissions. There are currently 1,493 COVID-19 patients in Ohio's hospitals, and 395 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.
Non-COVID patients are currently occupying 64.61% of the state's hospital beds, according to ODH. COVID-positive patients account for 5.41%, leaving 29.98% of beds currently available. COVID patients make up 8.31% of the state's ICU beds, non-COVID patients are occupying 62.30% of ICU beds, and 29.39% of ICU beds are currently open.
Vaccinations
To date, the COVID-19 vaccine has been started in 1,396,886 people in Ohio, which is 11.95% of the state's population. The vaccine has been started in 27,378 people in the last 24 hours.
The COVID-19 vaccination has been completed in a total of 576,534 people, which is 4.93% of the state's population. In the last 24 hours, the vaccine has been completed in 37,456 people.
Testing
There were 31,737 tests done on Wednesday, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 4.3% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 5%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.
