BRUNSWICK, Ohio — The Giant Eagle GetGo in Brunswick was cleaned and sanitized this week after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, according to a statement released by the company.
The company said the case was confirmed on Thursday. The last time the employee was in the store was on Tuesday.
Giant Eagle said that the store has been sanitized and is currently open.
Four stores in Pennsylvania were also cleaned after an employee at those stores tested positive for COVID-19.
Giant Eagle released the following statement:
"Giant Eagle’s top priority is the health and safety of our communities. As we continue vigilant store sanitization efforts, we recognize that the prevalence of COVID-19 is growing in our communities. Like other essential businesses, Giant Eagle has received confirmation of the first positive COVID-19 tests among our Team Members, and it is likely that in the coming weeks we’ll learn of additional confirmed cases related to Team Members and guests.
In these instances, our priorities will be to ensure that those affected are notified and cared for, that the company exceeds industry requirements in its efforts to thoroughly sanitize all potentially affected work areas, and that all activities are done in accordance with guidance from relevant authorities including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and County Health Departments.
Below you will find all Giant Eagle, Market District and GetGo locations affected over the past 14 days. This 14-day timeframe was established out of an abundance of caution based on examples set forth by the CDC. In every location below, immediate and thorough sanitization of all potentially affected in-store areas was completed in alignment with guidance from relevant authorities."
