New cases in Ohio fall below the 21-day average

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Following the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Ohio Department of Health reported 656 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 131,992.

The number of new cases today is lower than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,051. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 125,144 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.

There have now been 4,298 coronavirus-related deaths across the state, an increase of 22 over the previous day, higher than the 21-day average of 20.

There were 43 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. Cleveland reported 16 new cases, bringing their total to 5,143.

The ODH reported 80 new hospitalizations today, with eight ICU admissions, both around the 21-day average.

As of today, 110,279 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.

There were 21,808 tests done on Sept. 6, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 3% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 4.3%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 42 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
