COLUMBUS, Ohio — Coronavirus numbers in Ohio surged as the Ohio Department of Health reported 1,345 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 127,112.
The number of new cases today is higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,033. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 120,471 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.
There were 40 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today, the lowest increase since June 14.
While Cuyahoga County saw a low number of new cases, other counties were not as fortunate, particularly the more rural counties such as Butler, Montgomery and Wayne, which are now listed at red Level 3 on the state's Public Health Advisory System.
Cleveland reported 24 new cases Thursday evening, with one new death, bringing the total to 5,061 cases and 148 deaths.
There have now been 4,226 coronavirus-related deaths across the state, with 50 new deaths reported Thursday, which is higher than the 21-day average of 22, and the highest number of daily deaths reported since June 2.
The ODH reported 89 new hospitalizations today, with 14 ICU admissions. Both hospitalizations and ICU admissions were above the 21-day averages of 78 and 12, respectively.
As of today, 106,095 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.
There were 25,221 tests done on Sept.1, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 4.1% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 4.4%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.
The median age of patients is 41 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
