Ohio reports 1,422 new COVID-19 cases, 26 new coronavirus-related deaths

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 1,422 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 104,248.

The number of new cases today is higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,215. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 98,725 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.

There have now been 3,734 coronavirus-related deaths across the state, an increase of 26 over the previous day, higher than the 21-day average of 24.

There were 135 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. Cleveland reported 28 new coronavirus cases, bringing their total to 4,581.

The ODH reported 141 new hospitalizations today, with 22 ICU admissions.

As of today, 82,310 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.

There were 20,022 tests done on Aug. 10, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 4.6% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 5.1%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 42 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
