Ohio reports 10,114 new COVID-19 cases, 129 new coronavirus-related deaths

COLUMBUS, Ohio — `The Ohio Department of Health reported 10,114 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 456,963.

The number of new cases today is nearly 2,000 cases higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 8,306. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 432,324 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.

There were 861 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. The City of Cleveland reported 197 new COVID-19 cases and three new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the total to 12,560 confirmed cases and 165 fatalities.

There have now been 6,882 coronavirus-related deaths across the state; 129 new deaths were reported today, over double the 21-day average of 56.

The ODH reported 392 new hospitalizations today, with 33 ICU admissions. There are currently 5,092 COVID-19 patients in Ohio's hospitals, and 1,208 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.

Non-COVID patients are currently occupying 56% of the state's hospital beds, according to ODH. COVID-positive patients account for 18%, leaving 25% of beds currently available. COVID patients make up 24% of the state's ICU beds, non-COVID patients are occupying 53% of ICU beds, and 21% of ICU beds are currently open.

As of today, 306,950 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.

There were 60,463 tests done on Dec. 2, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 15.7% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 15.5%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 42 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
