Ohio reports record-breaking 3,845 new COVID-19 cases, 16 new deaths also reported

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 3,845 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 212,782. It's the single-highest daily number of cases reported since the start of the pandemic.

The number of new cases today is higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 2,223. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 200,609 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 94% of total cases.

There were 264 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today.

There have now been 5,291 coronavirus-related deaths across the state; 16 new deaths were reported today, higher than the 21-day average of 14.

The ODH reported 169 new hospitalizations today, with 25 ICU admissions.

As of today, 167,035 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.

There were 48,532 tests done on Wednesday, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 7% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 6.2%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 41 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
