COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 7,079 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 312,443.
"Our situation in Ohio is deteriorating," Gov. Mike DeWine said during a press conference on Tuesday.
The number of new cases today is higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 5,224. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 296,387 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.
DeWine said these numbers are just shocking.
"It means that one out of 100 people in the last two weeks was diagnosed with COVID-19," DeWine said.
There were 629 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. Cleveland had an issue with reporting numbers Monday evening, so it is unknown if Cuyahoga County's numbers include the city.
There have now been 5,772 coronavirus-related deaths across the state; 30 new deaths were reported today, higher than the 21-day average of 25.
The ODH reported 368 new hospitalizations today, with 27 ICU admissions, both of which were higher than the 21-day average. This was the second-highest amount of single-day hospitalizations reported since the start of the pandemic.
As of today, 208,495 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.
There were 37,379 tests done on Nov. 15, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 13.8% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 12.8%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.
The median age of patients is 41 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
