COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 2,518 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 192,948. It's the 10th time this month where the number of new daily cases has broken the state record.
"Candidly, what is most scary about this is that it does not seem like we're even starting to get to a plateau," Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said during his coronavirus news briefing Thursday. "It just goes up and up."
The number of new cases today is higher than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,721. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 181,869 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 94% of total cases.
There were 200 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. Aside from Oct. 21, when 240 new cases were reported, the cases reported Friday were the highest in Cuyahoga County since mid-July.
There have now been 5,184 coronavirus-related deaths across the state; 23 were reported Friday, higher than the 21-day average of 10.
The ODH reported 184 new hospitalizations today, with 25 ICU admissions, both above the respective 21-day averages.
As of today, 156,421 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.
There were 46,168 tests done on Wednesday, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 5.7% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 5.1%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.
The median age of patients is 41 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
