COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health reported 1,166 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total number of cases to 97,471.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine was one of the people who tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
DeWine’s office said the governor has no symptoms at this time. DeWine said he is returning to Columbus where he and First Lady Fran DeWine, who also has no symptoms, will both be tested again.

The number of new cases today is lower than the rolling 21-day average of daily cases, which is 1,280. These numbers include both cases confirmed by a viral test and cases that meet the CDC's definition of probable. There have been 92,273 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 95% of total cases.
There have now been 3,618 coronavirus-related deaths across the state, an increase of 22 over the previous day, lower than the 21-day average of 25.
There were 130 new cases reported in Cuyahoga County today. Cleveland reported 39 new cases, bringing their total to 4,402.
The ODH reported 135 new hospitalizations today, with 18 ICU admissions.
As of today, 74,612 Ohioans are presumed recovered from the disease, according to the ODH.
There were 18,446 tests done on Aug. 3, the latest day this data from the ODH was available. Of those tests, 5% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 5.6%. Click here for details on where to get a COVID-19 test in your area.

The median age of patients is 42 with the age range for infected patients from younger than 1 year old to 109 years old.
