The Ohio Department of Health reported 614 new cases of novel coronavirus Saturday afternoon, which is higher than the 21-day average of 575. So far, 314,374 Ohioans have been tested out of the state’s population of more than 11 million, the ODH reported. It's an increase of 8,610 patients tested since Friday. More here.

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is extending the run of its popular “Cruise the Zoo” event for two more weeks. The zoo has been closed since March 16, and the Cruise the Zoo event gives the public a first glimpse of the zoo by offering guests the chance to see giraffes, elephants and bears from the safety of their vehicles. The “Godfather of Grass,” who was sentenced for his role in a large marijuana operation after eight years on the run, has asked a judge to release him from a federal prison in Ohio that has seen nine coronavirus deaths. More here.

Ohio Job and Family Services announced state unemployment skyrocketed to 16.8% in the month of April, a 44-year high, up from 5.8% in March. More here.

The NHL and the NHL Player Association reached an agreement Friday night to move forward on a plan to resume the season, starting with a 24-team playoff. More here.

After the state announced pools, gyms and fitness centers could reopen beginning May 26, some recreation centers have outlined plans for their reopening to ensure the safety of their guests and staff. More here.
