Allan Nosoff

Meteorologist

Birthplace: Brooklyn, NY

Education: Mississippi State University (MS in Applied Meteorology), Long Island University (BA in Journalism, Media Arts)

Previous Work Experience: News 12 (on-air), FOX Weather and WNBC

Most Memorable Stories: Living through Hurricane Sandy in NYC. I was in middle school and knew I wanted to be a meteorologist; this storm really opened my eyes to the sheer power of Mother Nature and the importance of a meteorologist's job.

Awards/Honors: 4x Emmy-Nominated (including for Talent-Weather and Weathercast)

Favorite Sports Teams: Yankees, Knicks, Giants, Rangers (sorry!!)

Favorite Music: I'm like a music encyclopedia, mainly thanks to dad. I listen to everything from dance to country to R&B. My two favorite genres are smooth jazz (RIP 107.3 The Wave) and 80s pop, especially Italo Disco (shout out to those who know!)

Favorite Movie: (Not a big movie person, but I'd say the Star Wars series, specifically A New Hope)

Favorite Food: Chicken Parmesan

Family: My parents moved to the U.S. from Ukraine; I have a younger brother (not sure what else to put here?)

Something most people don't know about me: I was a competitive ballroom dancer for 15+ years! I was once nationally ranked 3rd in my age category with USA Dance. I even took lessons from Val Chmerkovskiy of DWTS as a kid.

What I like best about Northeast Ohio: I'm new to NEO, so I am learning a lot, but I already appreciate how much less traffic there is here compared to NYC. Additionally, there are numerous great outdoor areas, including parks, trails, and stunning lakefront views.

On the weekends, I love to: Explore the city! There is always something new to explore.
